README: Species Index Empty
PostSubject: README: Species Index   README: Species Index EmptyWed Oct 17, 2012 7:54 pm

The Species Index is used to log and process species and faction applications. Non-staff members of the forum are not authorized to post in the Accepted and Rejected subforums, though you may offer your criticism and suggestions to applications posted in the main Species Index section.

The next two posts will include two different application formats.

The species application is the most important, as it describes a species in the world. Only sapient species are required to be posted in the Species Index before being used, but non-sapient species may be posted here as well if they are a major part of the roleplay and the creators would like to expand upon their descriptions.

The faction application is important as well. It describes the morals, culture, and other dominating point of views within a faction as well as their military strength and technology.

Many of you will be playing factions with a single species. In such a case, feel free to use both the species application and the faction application in the same thread. In the case of many species within one faction (perhaps even played by multiple members), please post the species and faction separately.

Species Name: Name of the Species
Physiological Description: Physical and Biological description of the species. Don't need a whole biological profile, but it would be nice if you could list the organs and any biological "anomalies" unique to the species.
Biological History: The 'evolutionary' history of the species. Planet of origin, species evolved from, and so on. Not a required field, but potentially interesting to read.
Social Structure: How members of the species are treated based on class and gender, or other social constructs. Does your species even have a class system? Are genders near indistinguishable and thus treated no differently?
Native Culture: The culture (religion, social mannerisms, lore, etc) of the species before adopting their faction's point of view. This may be no different from the faction culture, or it may be radically different.
Factions: What factions your species can be found in.

Code:
[b]Species Name:[/b]
[b]Physiological Description:[/b]
[b]Biological History:[/b]
[b]Social Structure:[/b]
[b]Native Culture:[/b]
[b]Factions:[/b]

Faction Name: The faction's name
Faction Type: The government type of the faction, eg, commonwealth, empire, protectorate, and so on.
Species: Species within the faction.
Planets: Planets owned by the faction (new factions should keep this down to a handful). Name are not necessary, but some form of identification would be nice.
Culture: The dominant culture of the faction, such as religion and social mannerisms.
Technology: A technological summary of the faction (their lowest available tech, average tech, most advanced tech). Be sure to include how they travel faster than light.
Military Forces: The approximate military forces of the faction, if any. You can include ship class descriptions if you like.

Code:
[b]Faction Name:[/b]
[b]Faction Type:[/b]
[b]Species:[/b]
[b]Planets:[/b]
[b]Culture:[/b]
[b]Technology:[/b]
[b]Military Forces:[/b]
